Life is a gift we all share together

Preparing for your Pregnancy

When preparing for this most exciting time in every woman’s life, our mission at North Eastern is to ensure that every woman is in the very best, healthiest and happiest shape in every way. This includes frequent meetings, talking, listening and always offering our professional best answers for any of the questions you may encounter during your specific pregnancy. For women with some significant medical history, then we will prioritize the best management of your particulars prior to your big day.

Care during your Pregnancy

Neil Tamlin has been putting babies safely in their mothers’ arms longer than any other private obstetrician in Adelaide. At each of the typical 10 visits with Dr Tamlin, devoted to your care, appointments are usually 30 minutes in duration. You will have an ultrasound at every visit, and if baby is in a good position, 3D and 4D pictures will be taken, with copies provided to you. Rapidly developing babies, however, often ignore normal working hours, so I remain on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to discuss any and all concerns. Neil works alongside three additional obstetricians who share similar birth philosophies. We look forward to meeting with you, and caring for you, whenever your pregnancy demands.

Your Childbirth

My professional priority is to assist, encourage and promote a happy healthy mum, and to help you introduce your happy healthy baby to your world. Our second team priority is for you to maintain the vaginal delivery option. Many women, of course, prefer to retain the option of an elective caesarean section, and we are always open to this option. During your labour I also trust that my duty is one of a trained, experienced observer with a generally hands-off approach, unless or until the medical situation calls for direct intervention.

Dr Tamlin is also an excellent photographer, having worked in a darkroom during high school, and will do his best to capture fantastic photos of your birth

Your Postnatal Care

The postnatal care period is typically the time from birth, to the first 6 weeks. With our preferred option of vaginal birth, mothers can expect to spend between 4 to 5 days in hospital. Becoming a parent is one of the most challenging periods of any woman’s life, and we’re proud to say that our midwives at Burnside War Memorial Hospital provide among the very best postnatal care in the state

Dr Tamlin’s new General Electric ultrasound with 3D and 4D capacity, and that patients receive copies of pictures and videos at each visit.
